He wondered how she was too often a day to forget her. The woman that had forgotten him. He flew high in the sky, taking advantage of the air currents in this mid summer day. He'd just seen Aodhan, he was slowly integrating society. Meeting Elena had given him courage. She gave courage to many. Even to Illium. But no amount of courage could stop his mind from remembering that mortal human he had loved. She would be old now. He heard she had a family, grandchildren. She had forgotten about him. It was his fault. His weak heart wanted to share everything with her but what he shared was forbidden. For days he begged his Lord to spare her. And he did, taking only her memories. And his wings. They grew back after a year, but being grounded was difficult. He had been useless as a member of the seven during that time, only being able to do medial desk work day after day. But he had learned his lesson. To make sure he did, Raphael had kept one of his feathers on display in his office. Though Illium knew he kept it because he felt bad for hurting him. He and his Lord were bound by blood and friendship. They were brothers, the seven and Raphael. But even a brother could not break the laws.
Then came Elena. His Lord's consort. He loved her as well. She was human once, so fragile, in so much of a hurry in her short life. His Lord had claimed her before anyone else could. A guild Hunter turned Angel due to true love. Poetic. Illium knew he was her favorite of the seven, he knew she liked him as well, but it wasn't love. Illium would disappear from her mind the moment Raphael was around.
He flew down under the cloud line. His eyes looked at the ants below, humans hurrying in their lives, vampires trying to cope with theirs. Mortals were truly fascinating. They had to learn to survive, procreate and raise their children in such a short time. They say a candle burns brighter if it's shorter, humans were like a blinding flash of light to Bluebell. He envied them for a time. So short their lives were, yet they never had to fear the cruelty some immortals liked as they grew old and bored. Raphael was going down that path before Elena. He was alright now.
Seeing a group of school kids, Illium smiled and decided to grace them with his presence. He let one of his feathers float down in the little group where a young boy grabbed it and started bragging while the rest looked for more. Just a touch of magic and wonder for the kids. When they spotted him, he waved with a big smile before showing off his speed and flying off. He heard the giggles and the laughter, it made him forget the loneliness for a bit. But he had work to do. An informant to see. So he made his way to the Erotique, the vampire-human meeting place. It was basically a stripclub where humans could willingly allow vampires to feed on them. It was also where he had met the woman who forgot him and where he met all his informants.
He landed in front of the red door with the golden letters on it and walked in. He was here almost everyday, no need to be shy. A few vampires were feeding, others were just looking at the dancers. Illium went in his usual corner, where he could see the whole room and waited for the man with his information. It didn't take long for a vampire to walk up to him, fear in his face and body language.

"My Lord Illium, I bring you news from Michaela's mansion. For now she is very upset that Lord Raphael has refused her and taken Elena. She wants revenge but there's no clear indication how or when she'll do it."

He nodded, gave the vampire his money and the man left. Elena was a new angel, weak as a child. She was also the center of attention because of that and the bitch Michaela was always trying to kill her for that. Jealousy was ugly and it was all over her. Illium would keep his friend safe. But for now, he would enjoy looking at humans in their daily lives. Fascinating.

The tower was amazing. I had only been here for a few weeks, but I already explored every inch of the tower and its grounds. I loved it. I had been invited to meet with the Archangel, so he could tell me my tasks, I was acquainted with Dmitry, head of security and Elena. She was surprising. I enjoyed learning about the guild and the human world from her. She cared deeply about her human life, even though she wasn't human any longer. But I had not come here for the siteseeing, I came here to find the angel with blue wings I had fallen for so many years ago. For that, I had grabbed my courage with both hands and walked up to Dmitry.
He always had this silent but dangerous look on his face. He was a serious man, old and powerful. I heard Raphael say that he stayed due to his constant need to be pushed. His story was a sad one, but he seemed please with his life at the moment. I found him on the vampire floor of the tower, face leaning on a blond woman's neck. Her face was showing her excitement, her pleasure. I heard that, with a master, pain could be pleasure. Dmitry had many decades of practice. I waited silently for him to finish his meal. When he was done and saw me, he cleaned his mouth with a tissue and left the woman in her state of pure delight, laying on a couch. He escorted me in the hall, leaving g her some privacy.

"Forgive me for interrupting your meal, Sir. I'd like to know where I could find Illium."

He smiled at me. Even with his reputation of asshole, he had not been cruel to me in the least.

"If I recall, he had business at the Erotique. You should find little Bluebell there."

I didn't wait a second longer. I had done what was asked of me earlier in the day, I wanted to see him now. Finding the nearest balcony, I jumped off. My wings caught the rushing wind and I flew over Hudson Bay. It was cloudy today, the smell of rain was heavy so I hurried to get to that club as quickly as I could. I was a good flyer, but I was young and rain could slow me down. Would he recognize me? Would he even care that I remembered him?
When I arrived at the club, I was granted access and made my way through the dimly lit building, looking for a man with vivid blue wings. When I saw him, my heart skipped a beat. He has the same as in my memories, but he looked stronger. More powerful than the man that had caught me but just as magnificent. I approached him, he felt me, his eyes looked onto mine. I felt the blood rush to my face. So long I had waited. When I was in front of him, I felt naked. I was already his and he didn't know it.

"Illium... Do you remember me?"

His mind was lost in thought, so he didn't see the angelic creature coming towards him at first. He was wondering what Elena would think of this club. It was for the high and rich of society. A place for vampires to meet with consent humans. He only came here for business. That's what he liked telling himself, but he knew, it was because mortality fascinated him. Often times, this worried Raphael, but he never told him to stay away from mortals, just not tell any of them their secrets. Raphael knew immortality grew boring, anything that could break the boredom was savored. For Illium it was watching humans burn brightly for the short time they had on this Earth.
That's when his eyes caught the subtle movements of the angel walking towards him. She was familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen her. She wasn't all that unique, black wings, black hair. Maybe he had seen her at the tower, maybe at the Refuge. But to see a woman angel in this club, that was very rare. It made him even more curious about her when she walked right up to him, said his name, so sweetly, so lovingly, and asked him if he remembered her.
He tilted his head slightly, looking at her from head to toe, trying to find something he could definitely remember her from. Upon closer inspection, he saw that her wings and hair were both tipped with silver. Like his. Rare. Then, he looked in her eyes. Those impossibly bright blue, silver eyes. He had a flash of a little, pudgy girl that couldn't fly. He remembered the hair was pale at the tips, not quite silver, the wings had been black though. He rose an eyebrow.

"Could you be...the girl I taught to fly?"

She nodded. He smirked. She grew up into a fine woman in the end. He had feared she would stop flying after he had to leave. With his everlasting smile, he took her hand and made her spin on herself slowly, to have a look at her. The dress she wore was like a second skin on her, so he had a very nice view on her rear. It looked very firm, tight. His heart skipped a beat, but he let nothing show as she came back to face him.

"Very nice. Would you fly with me?"

It was an explicit request, usually, angels dancing together in the sky ended with sex. He hadn't bedded a woman in decades. He had been broken for a long time, Elena had pulled him out with her frank talk, but she had chosen his Lord, nothing he could do to be with her. But this woman, she looked at him with doe eyes. Maybe she could break the string of boredom for a while.

It was odd for Illium to spin me, I felt his eyes on me intently. It made me feel the blood Rushton my cheeks, but it made me happy. I let him examine me, hearing him remember who I was. That poor little girl, too afraid to fly, too weak at heart. This little girl who had fallen in love with the azure blue of his wings, the black of his hair, that little girl changed for him. My wings had been black, my hair wasn't tipped with silver when I was a child, both had changed with time to match him. It was all for him, always.
As the turn ended and I could finally look at this face that had my heart racing, his expression turn mischievous. He asked me to fly with him. I was no fool. Angels dance in the sky for courtship. Sex. I didn't react, too shocked to move or speak. Maybe he didn't really remember me then. Daughter of nobles, from a family of healers. Raised well and in respect. He would ask me for sex like a common vampire? Even though my body would be glad to accept, my pride was blocking that screaming desire. My hand flew before I could stop it. The sound of it hitting his cheek felt like it stopped the music in the club, even though nobody had noticed really.

"I was a fool. I shouldn't have looked for you. What did I expect? That you felt what I feel? Rubbish."

I turned around and started walking out. My eyes were blurry as tears flowed down my cheeks. My hand hurt me, his cheek was harder than I thought. I was angry, hurt. I had been working hard to find him, to perfect myself so he would love me as I did him. Electricity cracked all over my body as I pushed my way out of the club. Shocking vampires and humans. When I reached the door, I simply jumped out, spread my wings and flew up. Higher. Always higher. Above the cloud line where the sun shone and the rain couldn't reach me. There, I flew. It didn't matter which direction, it didn't matter how quickly, I just wanted to leave this place. To forget him. But I knew I couldn't. He was in every cell of my being, his scent in every single pore on my skin. His colors in my eyes. I cried, up above the clouds, my tears would mix with the rain, disappearing like I wish I could. I had slapped him, the man I had loved for so long. He would definitely never want to see me again. The pain was like a sharp knife in my heart, but there was no way to make it go away. I had signed a contract with his Lord for the next two hundred years, I couldn't leave, I would just have to avoid crossing his path again.

He hadn't expected this. He thought she had come to this club for that, after all this was a meeting place where partners were made. So to have this young angel slap him that hard on his cheek brought him back down to earth. The blue winged angel wasn't used to be refused, but her tears were what stopped him. Tears. No woman had cried for him before, not out of love as this woman said she felt for him. Elena had cried for him, fearing his death or the loss of his wings, but never for this.
She was gone from his side, his sight before he could react. He ran behind her, but got there too late. She was already flying. Guess those flying lessons really paid off, but he wasn't called the butterfly for no reason. With one wing beat, he was flying. To escape the rain she would have gone over the clouds so he flew there. The sun was still bright, beautiful, but his eyes searched for something else that was beautiful. Wings dark as night with silver ends. That what hit him, she had wings like his.
Out in the distance, he spotted her. Using his impressive speed, he caught up to her really quickly. What could he say to her? He had acted like a man with no class at all. He flew near her for some time before finally swooping from under her to appear in front, forcing her to stop. Her face showed that she had been crying. Ashamed, Illium flew right up to her, slipped a hand around her waist, pulled her close, making her fold her wings and he flew them both down. He found a roof that was in decent shape to land on, but he didn't let her go.

"Forgive my idiotic ways. I truly meant no disrespect. I've forgotten my manners. Perhaps I was merely in shocked of seeing how beautiful you've become."

Illium let her stand on her own feet and knelt in front of her, his head held low, presenting the back of his neck.

"If My Lady would please forgive my foolish heart. May we begin again?"

To have him knelt in front of me, begging for my forgiveness, I had no words. For years I had waited to have him with me. I had lived my own fantasy upon meeting him. His initial reaction had hurt me, but he wouldn't kneel in front of me if he wasn't interested himself. True, our meeting wasn't what I planned, but we were here now. With too much pride to cry in front of him, I breathed in hard and fell to my knees to be at his height.
Showing his neck to me was a sign of submission, but I didn't want him to submit, I fell for the Illium I had met, not some puppy dog angel man. My arms wrapped around this offered neck, my face found its way to his chest. Kneeling, under the rain, I held him. Not long after, his arms wrapped around me. Maybe it hadn't been just my own fantasy I was living, Maybe he had thought of me as well? No, ridiculous, he had only seen a small chubby angel, nothing to remember. But the feeling of those strong arms around me again just made my heart race, an overwhelming safety surrounded me. My pride broke then and I cried silently, my tears mixing with the rain on his chest.

"So many years I had hoped for this moment. Illium, would you allow my foolish fantasy to be given life?"

My fantasy to be with him, to kiss him, to be kissed, to be held. My fantasy to call him mine. My fantasy to fly by his side, to be called his. To have this chest and these arms as my safe haven.
